The Masters: A Tradition in Golf

X

Any fan of golf knows what is happening this weekend! A favorite amongst many, the Masters Tournament is named for the “masters of golf” who compete in it, held annually at the beautiful Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

If you are so fortunate to be able to attend, I have heard incredible reviews! One of our own members who attended for his first time in 1995, proclaimed that
“the atmosphere and the golf course are beyond any expectation you may have had for it”!

For those watching from home, your favorite part of this weekend might include seeing all your idols together in one place! The competition is thick—and from a design perspective, the course will keep things interesting up until the last putt is made.

There is a rich tradition surrounding the food that is served at The Masters. Some of the delicious offerings include Augusta National Sour Cream Pound Cake, Masters Pimento Cheese or Masters Egg Salad sandwiches, sipped with an Arnold Palmer, or an Azalea Cocktail. Named for the beautiful pink azaleas on the 13th hole, this simple & sweet mix of vodka, pineapple, lemon & grenadine will make you feel like you’re watching in person!

The key is to use only fresh-squeezed lemon juice. If you have a yellow plastic lemon, don’t you dare use it in this drink. Fresh is best!

  • 2 ounces lemon juice fresh-squeezed
  • 2 ounces pineapple juice
  • 4 ounces vodka
  • ¼ ounce grenadine

Shaken and served up! We’ll be serving them as a special in the Trophy Room this weekend.

Many players take a break this weekend to enjoy the tournament, but if you make it out to see us be sure to look for the Masters Logo painted on #18 fairway!
